Is OHFA Homebuyer Downpayment Assistance right for me?

Interested in buying a home? We make it possible with OHFA Homebuyer Downpayment Assistance.

If you’re in the market to purchase a home and need help with a down payment and closing costs, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) can help. OHFA offers 30 year, fixed-rate conventional, FHA, VA and USDA-RD government loans with generous income and purchase price limits, designed especially for homebuyers with low and moderate incomes.

  • Allows the homebuyer to choose either 2.5% or 5% assistance
  • Assistance can be applied towards down payment, closing costs or other pre-closing expenses
  • Assistance is forgiven after 7 years
  • Income and purchase price limits apply per county
  • Must be a first-time homebuyer, which by definition is buying your first home or have not had ownership interest in a property in the last three years
  • Conventional, FHA, VA and USDA-RD programs available
You may be eligible for OHFA Homebuyer Downpayment Assistance if
  • You are purchasing a home in Ohio
  • The home will be used as your primary residence
  • Your income and purchase price are under the county limits
  • You meet credit score requirements
